Efficient and responsive cooktop!

Overall I really like this cooktop. It heats quickly and precisely, and I find the touch pads to be very responsive. I also really like the timer feature. It does make a bit of a whining noise when multiple burners are in use which can be a little annoying. I have not used the bridge feature yet for the 2 left burners. If I could rate a 4.5 I would, with the .5 deduction for the whining noise.

Disappointing Durability ™€“ Crack after 2 Years

I purchased the GE Profile 36" Induction Cooktop expecting a high-end, durable appliance. Unfortunately, after just two years of normal, everyday use, the glass cooktop spontaneously cracked. The crack runs straight down the middle of the surface - completely unprovoked, with no dropped pots, impacts, or misuse. What makes this worse is GE™€™s customer service. When I reached out, they showed zero willingness to stand behind their product or cover a glass replacement, leaving me stuck with an unsafe appliance after a very short lifespan. While the induction heating worked well initially, a $2,000+ cooktop shouldn't fail structurally in 24 months, and the manufacturer should do right by their customers when it does. I cannot recommend this unit based on the poor glass quality and lack of post-warranty support.

We waited for over a week for a service call; we were told today by the service tech, that GE wants to replace all five burners before the discussion of replacing the top. It is easier to use than the Miele cook top we had before if maybe a touch less powerful. But for price a really good tradeoff. Fingers crossed that it doesn't scratch like some of the other reviewer's mentioned. We will be very careful of sliding cast iron across the surface.

It does the job but not as good as the KichenAid we replaced. Our KitchenAid induction cooktop died after about 10 years. The replacement would not fi in the countertop space since we had a down draft fan behind it. With widening the hole we were able to make the GE work. PROS: Analog style touch controls, ability to combine 2 burners into 1 large burner, Wi-Fi (though we don't use it), Consistent heating (once it warms up) CONS: No beveled edge, no "Pulse" or Turbo heat for fast heating

The induction assembly and induction control tray have both gone out 2 times in less than 1.5 years. The parts are over 1000 dollars. The first time it went out the stovetop was under warranty as it happened months into using it. Now, a half year after it was "fixed" last the same parts are in need of replacing. I can only guess that there is something else going on with this item or it is horribly built.

Induction cooks twice as fast as radiant heat. BUT Cooktops have slightly varying dimensions. Our countertop hole was slightly too big so we put SS metal flange 1 1/2 inch wide around the hole. Electrical upgrade to 50 amp cost $2400. One day of planning. I wish GE had a flange kit.

The cooktop does exactly what we thought it would. The cooling fans are quiet, which is very pleasing. Pressure cooker is easy, where with gas it was tricky. Even heat to the griddle spanning two burners is yet to be fully sorted. Terrific to have the option to use Plus/Minus or touching the Dial to set the heat. Cleaning is easy, since the surface never gets very hot. However, cleaning is nearly constant because anything and everything shows. The biggest adjustment is to the changed nature of the cooking. No more instant drama and heat from a high flame. No more leaning down to peek at how low the simmer is. ™€œTrusting the Instruments™€ will take some time.

It's beautiful and works. Mostly. We are at eight months, and I am scheduling service because the WIFI isn't broadcasting, so it broke connection with the app. The good news is that I can still cook. It also is finicky on pan size. If the pan is too small, it will automatically turn off. Finally, it is underpowered. We had a Samsung prior to this, and I could get a pot of water to boil in about a minute. This one takes much longer.

We purchased this cooktop in a new construction, changing from a gas stove in a previous home. The cooking action appears to work properly across all burners, including using a griddle pan across the two burner setup. One issue that just cropped up is the appearance of scratches on the surface. We use an approved ceramic cleaner and check our pans. However, three of the burners have scratches along with a non-burner area. Very disappointed with the durability of this surface.

Overall this has been great so far. We are still getting used to induction, but liking it. My only complaint is that sometime it has a loud hum at high power. I am guessing its because of some EMI and just doesn't have EMI filtering at the power inputs. However, its manageable. Really enjoying the sleek controls look and the easy cleanup.

Looks great. Induction works really well and heats up quickly without letting the pans overheat. The safety features for auto shutoff are a nice touch and I absolutely love being able to use the ChefConnect on my GE Range Hood to turn on the lights and fan automatically and shut off after a delay once the cooktop is off. It cleans up very easily. The configuration is nicely spread out with the large central burner towards the center back so that a range hood can properly vent when boiling. Contractor did installation, didn't seem to be any issues.

Like have the five burners, and the different sizes. Controls just take a little getting used to, especially if not accustomed to an electric stovetop. High settings boil water very quickly, which benefits on those nights making pasta! Surface cleans up easily. I use the Ceramic Bright product once a week and helps to maintain easy cleanup. Timer is conveniently placed, but I always struggle to find the exact finger placement to activate, and this is why I gave a 4 and not a 5. Nice in the summer versus a gas stovetop, which really heats up the kitchen.

I really wanted to love this cooktop. It looks beautiful in our kitchen and matches our other GE appliances perfectly. But the performance has been a major disappointment. The biggest issue is the temperature control. Nearly half the dial delivers barely any usable heat™€"low settings are so weak they won™€™t even cook an egg. Then, just a slight increase and the pan becomes scorching hot. There™€™s virtually no middle ground. SautÃing, simmering, or gently browning food becomes a frustrating guessing game. You're constantly bouncing between undercooked and burned. What makes this more frustrating is that I previously owned a GE radiant cooktop, and it actually performed better in terms of heat control. I made the switch to induction thinking I™€™d be upgrading™€"but this has felt like a step backward. I stayed with GE mostly because the dimensions matched the cutout we already had, and I assumed I was paying for a premium experience. There was a Frigidaire model available with the same dimensions and significantly lower cost. We passed on it thinking GE would offer superior performance and quality. In hindsight, that was a mistake™€"we paid more and got daily headaches in return. I™€™ve tried multiple pans, including the smart pan GE provided, and even used a thermometer to confirm the inconsistent heat. I later saw GE respond to another customer on a public review suggesting that cookware size might be the issue, but that™€™s not the case here. The real problem is how abruptly the heat ramps between settings™€"it™€™s a design flaw, not a user error. If GE ever updates the control logic to provide smoother, more precise power steps, this could be a great cooktop. But right now, it™€™s hard to recommend™€"especially to anyone who actually cooks regularly and needs consistent, predictable performance.

Love the look of the induction cooktop, as well the SmartQ app! This is our first induction cooktop and it™€™s impressive how quickly it boils down to liquids and cooks. We suggest starting at lower temperature range as there is not the lag time as typical electric cooktop.

We absolutely love our induction cooktop. It has a tough learning curve but we figured it all out. Even the Hestan Cue cookware. We love it all. Now we are buying all of other Profile kitchen appliances one at a time. We already bought the dishwasher and the refrigerator arrives next week. The OTR microwave in two weeks. Lastly, we are getting the side swing double convection oven athe end of April. We already had to front load washer and dryer and we love them all!
